The ability for individual members of the community to have a direct impact on the decisions and direction of the United Way of Southwest New Mexico is one of the many extraordinary things that sets us apart. The Community Impact Committee gives every member of our community, every donor, the opportunity to directly contribute to the mission of creating a better life for everyone in southwest New Mexico by becoming part of the process of identifying needs and supporting opportunities to meet those needs year round.
About the Community Impact Committee
The Community Impact Committe is the voice of the community at the United Way of Southwest New Mexico - working closely with Staff and Board Members to ensure that the ever changing needs of the community are being discussed, understood and addressed.
The Committee meets once every six to eight weeks to discuss the current conditions in our community and the performance of programs and services in creating improvements in education, health and income. These meetings serve as a forum for continous communication with community members, staff and Board Members to ensure that we are consistantly working to support the immediate needs of the people in southwest New Mexico.
Members of this Committee also serve as active committees as they are needed for special events, campaign and allocations.
Opportunities for Active Participation
Special Events committees may include the Annual Gala, Advocate Brunch and Alternative Spring Break.
Campaign committees work with Advocates to coordinate campaign activites within the Advocate's workplace - this may include speaking at the Advocates LIVE UNITED meeting, helping organize needed materials or arranging for testimonials from partner agencies.
In late spring the Citizens Review Panel or Allocations Committee works with the Allocations Chair (from the Board of Directors) to review applications for funding requests made by local agencies and determine the allocation of funds raised during the campaign.
Any member of our community can become a member of the Community Impact Committe. If you are interested please contact us as (575) 524-7561 or by e-mail.
