Welcome to the United Way of Southwest New Mexico
"To improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community."
United Way of Southwest New Mexico is a locally independent, volunteer driven, non-profit organization, bringing people and resources together to build healthier communities in and around Dona Ana County.
Since 1957, we've been finding new ways to help the people of Dona Ana County care for one another. Today, we continue to lead the way in addressing local human care needs. Through our Citizens Review Panel we partner with community volunteers in prioritizing needs, raising resources, and funding services that provide effective support and solutions.

"Connie" came to the shelter after having lived many years with her husband who was abusing her. She was physically, emotionally, and verbally abused. Connie has 3 children, 1 which has a terminal illness. Connie was not allowed to make decisions for herself and was isolated from others. She was under the impression that she could not make it on her own and has seen wonderful things happening to family while at La Casa. While staying in the shelter, she has taken advantage of counseling, case management, parenting, and children's programming. Suring her stay in the shelter, she has found employment, has saved money, she was recently accepted into La Casa's Transitional Housing Program Connie is also in the process of applying to New Mexico State University to further her education. "Connie" is one of many women who is living independently and free from abuse.
